Historic hand crafted pen made from original wood recovered from the famous Confederate Prison in Richmond, Virginia. This well made, beautiful working ball point pen measures 5 inches inches in length and it has a very nice solid weight to it while holding it in your hand, and it writes beautifully. The ink cartridges can be replaced when the pen runs out of ink. Metal parts finish this handsome writing instrument off at both ends and it has a clasp to hook on a shirt pocket. This is a great working relic incorporating real wood from the notorious Libby Prison. This will make a great gift for that person looking for something interesting. Comes displayed in a solid gray velvet flip open carrying case.
Libby Prison, established March 26, 1862, was situated on the corner of Cary and 20th Streets, on the James River in Richmond, Virginia. The building was the warehouse of Libby and Sons, ship chandlers, before the Civil War. Outside of Andersonville Prison, Libby Prison was perhaps the most notorious Confederate Prison of the War Between The States.
