United States Congressman from Ohio
(1797-1849) Born in Hatfield, Mass., he attended Williams College, in Williamstown, Mass., studied law, was admitted to the bar and commenced practice in Tiffin, Ohio. Appointed prosecuting attorney for Seneca County in 1824, for Williams County in 1826, and for Sandusky County in 1827; served as a member of the Board of Public Works of Ohio, 1836-45; served as a U.S. Congressman from 1847 until his death in 1849.
