Civil War Congressman from Illinois
Member of the President Andrew Johnson Impeachment Congress
(1812-95) He attended Illinois College at Jacksonville, studied law, was admitted to the bar in 1839, and commenced practice in Lewistown, IL. He was a member of the Illinois State House of Representatives in 1840, 1841, 1844, and 1845. He was a member of the Illinois State Constitutional Convention in 1861 and 1870. He served as a U.S. Congressman, 1863-69, which included the President Andrew Johnson Impeachment Congress.
