Received at Acquia Creek, Va., this 23 day of May, 1863, of Capt. R.A. Stanton, Ord.[ance] Off.[icer], the following Ordnance and Ordnance Stores, as per invoice dated the 23 day of May 1863.
For 26,800 Ball Cartridges, Cal. 52 and 27 boxes of packing.

John R. Edie, graduated in the West Point class of 1861 and subsequently served in the 2nd and 5th U.S. Cavalry Regiments. He was transferred to the 3rd U.S. Artillery, and then served as Acting Chief of Ordnance, Army of the Potomac, a position he held during the Gettysburg campaign. He received promotions to brevet captain and major for his gallant and meritorious service in the field during the Civil War. Very desirable Gettysburg related autograph. |
