Statement Of Moneys Received, Expended, and on hand, for the Months of March and April 1864. Deposited in U.S. Depositary, Chicago, Ills. Chicago, Ills., May 1, 1864.
The following is written in the Remarks column: I was relieved at Madison, Wis. on the 10 of March under orders to report at Indianapolis, Ind. I left my vouchers at Madison to be forwarded by Express. They did not reach me until the 30 day of April, thus preventing my monthly statement for March within the time prescribed. My payments for March were all made during the first eight days of that month. I made payments at Indianapolis, Ind. from the 4th to the 21st day of April inclusive- and at Chicago from the 2nd to the 30d inclusive. I have therefore embraced any statement for both months hereon. Silas B.A. Haynes, Addl. Paym. Genl., U.S.A.
Endorsement signed on the reverse of the document by General T.P. Andrews: Respectfully returned for Division. Separate statements for each calendar month must always be rendered. Return such for March and April immediately to this office. P.M.G.O., May 13, 1864. T.P. Andrews, Paym. Genl., U.S. Army.
Light age toning and wear.
Silas B.A. Haynes, who also signed this document, was appointed additional paymaster, June 30, 1862; he was honorably mustered out with rank of brevet lieutenant colonel, April 15, 1866.
