These hair strands originated from the estate of Mrs. Caroline Wright, wife of Governor Joseph A. Wright, of Indiana. The Lincoln's and the Wright's were good friends and the hair locks were given to Mrs. Wright by the Lincoln's just after Lincolnís 1865 Inauguration. Mrs. Wright collected hair locks from famous personalities and these were given to her by the Lincoln's as a token of their friendship. Theses hair relics consist of several small strands of hair that are encased with a 3X magnified cover to amplify the hair for better viewing. The 11 x 14 display is double matted in burgundy suede with florentine gold trim. It is highlighted with a copy photo of President Lincoln taken in 1861, and one of Mary Todd Lincoln in mourning attire. The Wright Collection was sold by Christie's Auction House. Certificate of authenticity comes with the display.
