(1830-1905) He enlisted on April 29, 1861, as a sergeant, and was mustered into the 1st Ohio Infantry. He was mustered out on Aug. 16, 1861. On Aug. 19, 1862, he was commissioned captain, 93rd Ohio Infantry. He was wounded during the battle of Stones River, Tenn., on Dec. 31, 1862. Promoted to major, Jan. 21, 1863; lieutenant colonel, Mar. 1, 1863; brevet brigadier general, June 8, 1865.
