Lieutenant Colonel 67th Ohio Infantry

(1827-1904) Born in Stark County, Ohio, he attended Oberlin College, studied law, and was a lawyer and judge by occupation. He was a resident of Akron when he was commissioned lieutenant colonel, 67th Ohio Infantry, on October 3, 1861. He was wounded in action on July 18, 1863, at Fort Wagner, South Carolina, the battle made famous by the charge of the 54th Massachusetts Colored Infantry. Promoted to brevet brigadier general, December 8, 1864, and brevet major general, November 15, 1865. Mustered out of service on December 7, 1865.
