Lieutenant Colonel 67th Ohio Infantry

Wounded in action at Fort Wagner, South Carolina!

(1827-1904) Born in Stark County, Ohio, he attended Oberlin College, studied law, and was a lawyer and judge by occupation. He was a resident of Akron when he was commissioned lieutenant colonel, 67th Ohio Infantry, on October 3, 1861. He was wounded in action on July 18, 1863, at Fort Wagner, South Carolina, the battle made famous by the charge of the 54th Massachusetts Colored Infantry. Promoted to brevet brigadier general, December 8, 1864, and brevet major general, November 15, 1865. Mustered out of service on December 7, 1865.

Wet plate, albumen carte de visite photograph mounted to 2 3/8 x 4 card. Bust view in uniform with rank of brigadier general. Gen. A.C. Voris is imprinted on the front mount. No backmark. Scattered staining and light corner and edge wear. Rare. This is the first Voris image I've ever had.
