21 1/2 x 14, imprinted form, filled out in ink. Morning Report of Captain E.B. Neal, Co. F, Twenty Eighth Maine Volunteers, Army of the United States, Colonel E.W. Woodman, for the month of July 1863. Itemized account of the men in the company who are present and absent from duty. Signed three times by R. Seavey and three times by Edw. B. Neal. The remarks section mentions some of the men on duty at Port Hudson, La. Light age toning and wear.
Reuben Seavey, was a 44 year old resident of Farmingdale, Maine, when he enlisted on Oct. 14, 1862, as a corporal, and was mustered into Co. F, 28th Maine Infantry. He was promoted to sergeant in the summer of 1863, and later mustered out on Aug. 31, 1863, when the regiment's term of service expired. He re-enlisted on Dec. 29, 1863, as a 2nd lieutenant, and was commissioned into the 30th Maine Infantry. He was killed in action on April 23, 1864, in the battle of Cane River Crossing, La.
Edward B. Neal, was a 30 year old resident of Wiscasset, Maine, when he enlisted on Oct. 14, 1862, as a captain, and he was commissioned into Co. F, 28th Maine Infantry. He was mustered out on Aug. 31, 1863, when the regiment's term of service expired.
