Invoice of Subsistence Stores, (Provisions) delivered by D.T. Carraway, Capt. & A.C.S., to W.H. Sanford, 7th Regt. at Shepardville, on the 27th day of January 1862. Itemized account for pork, bacon, flour, rye, sugar and salt. Signed by D.T. Carraway, Capt. & Commissary of Subsistence. There is some minor paper loss at the lower left corner of the document which does not affect any of the content. Light age toning and wear. Very desirable Confederate officer who served on the staff of 5 prominent Confederate generals.
Daniel T. Carraway, was born on Feb. 7, 1833. He served gallantly throughout the war (1861-65) as Captain and Major, and Commissary of Subsistence, for Generals' L.O.B. Branch, A.P. Hill, J.H. Lane, D. Pender (at Gettysburg), and C.M. Wilcox. General A.P. Hill wrote of Carraway, "I consider him one of the best staff officers in the service."
