The War For The Union, The Soldiers Who Fought It, The Civilians Who Directed It, And His Relations To It And To Them, by George B. McClellan, Late Major General Commanding The Armies. Published by Charles L. Webster & Company, New York, 1887. Green cloth covers with gold and red embossed Army of the Potomac medal and gold title. This is the shoulder strap edition with gold title, publisher's name and major general's shoulder strap on the spine. 678 pages, index, illustrations. There is a very minor bump at the upper edge of the front cover and spine. There is a tear to the paper covering of the inside front cover board which does not affect the tightness of the book. The pages are very clean with no tears, or stains, and are very tight. Covers are brilliant in color and in very nice condition. This original 1887 book, written by General McClellan in his own words, would be an excellent addition to your Civil War library.
