Requisition for Forage for Two Private Horses in the service of Capt. H. De F. Young, Chief Ord.[nance] Off.[icer] 3d Corps, U.S. Army, at Camp Near Bealton Station, Va., for 30 days, commencing the 1st of September 1863, and ending the 30th of September 1863. Itemized account listing the number of pounds of corn, oats, hay and fodder used by Captain Young's two horses. The requisition has been signed, Apprv. Geo. E. Randolph, Capt. 1 R.I. Arty., Chf. of Art. 3 Corps., and twice by H. De F. Young, Capt. & Chief Ord. Off., 3d Army Corps. Very fine.
George E. Randolph, enlisted on June 6, 1861, as a sergeant, and was mustered into the 1st Rhode Island Light Artillery. He was wounded in action on July 21, 1861, in the 1st battle of Bull Run. Promoted to 2nd lieutenant, Aug. 14, 1861; 1st lieutenant, Sept. 13, 1861; captain, Sept. 28, 1861; brevet major, lieutenant colonel, and colonel, Mar. 13, 1863; detached on April 27, 1863, and appointed chief of artillery, 3rd corps, army of the potomac, serving in this position during the Chancellorsville and Gettysburg campaigns and continuing in this position until his resignation, on Jan. 5, 1864.
Harrison De F. Young, was a 21 year old resident of Lancaster, N.H., when he enlisted on May 22, 1861, as a 2nd lieutenant, and was commissioned into Co. F, 2nd New Hampshire Infantry. He was wounded in action on July 21, 1861, in the 1st battle of Bull Run. Promoted to 1st lieutenant, July 11, 1862; captain, Aug. 20, 1862; mustered out of service on June 21, 1864.
