PATRIOTIC COVER, NORTH CAROLINA SECESSION (Image1)

This is an original 1860's Civil War period cover that was postally used as a first day cover during the Civil War Centennial in 1965. North Carolina state seal with motto, North Carolina Secession. Imprint of Upham, 310 Chestnut St., Phila. Postmarked Appomattox, Va., Apr. 9, 1965, with 5 cents U.S. postage stamp, Appomattox, Civil War Centennial, 1865-1965, and quote from Lincoln's 2nd Inagural Address, "With Malice Toward None," with vignette of Civil War soldier and stacked muskets. Stamped First Day Of Issue. Light age toning and wear.
