This is to Certify that Mrs. Louisa Skinner is the proprietor of Fifty Shares of Fifty dollars each of the Capital Stock of The Little Miami Rail Road Company, transferable only on the Books of the said Company on the surrender of this Certificate. Cincinnati, Dec. 2, 1868. Has an embossed seal of the railroad company at lower left, ink signatures of the Secretary and President of the company, and a 25 cents, George Washington, Internal Revenue tax stamp which is tied onto the document with C.D.S. of the Little Miami Rail Road Co. Reverse of the document has the transfer of Capital Stock by Louisa Skinner which bears her signature, etc. Light age toning and wear. 5 tiny cut cancellations at lower right which partly touch upon the signature of the President. Very fine.
Footnote: The Little Miami Rail Road was only the second one to be built in Ohio. The State Legislature granted them a charter in March 1836. The purpose of this railroad was to connect the cities of Cincinnati and Springfield.
