Know all men by these presents that I, Jeremia Pickett of Charles City and Commonwealth of Virginia, for and in consideration of two hundred silver dollars to me in hand, paid Nathaniel Kerr of Randolph County & State of North Carolina, the receipt thereof. I do hereby acknowledge have bargained and sold and by these presents do bargain and sell unto said Nathaniel Kerr, one Negro Boy named Will, to have & to hold the said Negro Boy to his Executors or assigns forever, and I, the said Jeremia Pickett for myself, my Executors and Administrators, the said Negro as above named unto the said Nathaniel Kerr, his heirs and assigns against me the said Jeremia Pickett, my Executors, Administrators or assigns or any other person or persons whatsoever, Lawfully claiming the said Negro Boy shall and will warrant and for ever defend by these presents in witness I have hereunto put my hand & affixed my seal this 23rd Day of August 1795.
