UNION CAVALRY OFFICER ARMED WITH SWORD (Image1)

Wet plate, albumen photograph, mounted to card. Seated pose of a bearded Yankee cavalry officer wearing a bummer's kepi with cloth cavalry insignia with crossed sabers, and regimental numeral. His single breasted frock coat, worn open at the top, sports a shoulder strap. He wears guantlets and holds the hilt of his saber. Sash is visible hanging from his belt with rectangular belt plate. Comes in an original period oval wood frame with raised floral motiff and gold gilt liner. Meaures about 7 x 8. Frame shows some wear and small cracks.
