THE SLAVE TRADE (Image1)

8 x 6 1/4, glass faced display case, with three authentic slave related relics, with descriptive text and graphics. An interesting and unique display including:
1). A brass button with the initials T.P. on the face used by slave merchant Thomas Porter to adorn the clothing of his slaves.
2). A colorful pattern, glass African trade bead. These were prized by the slaves with similar examples being found in New Orleans.
3). Burned cotton from the Confederate blockade runner Nashville that was produced by South Carolina slaves and intended to run the blockade when the ship was destroyed by Union gunboats.
