Lithograph, overall size is 15 1/4 x 12, with white border around the edges. Imprint, Rear Attack by Gen. John A. Logan, May 16, 1863, Battle of Champion Hills, copyrighted 1897, by Kurz & Allison, Chicago, is at the bottom of this full color battle scene. This is a reprint of the 1897 lithograph. Light edge wear and tiny tear in the border area. Suitable for framing. Footnote: This 1863 battle was the most severe one fought during the Vicksburg campaign. Champion's Hill was a prominent knoll which provided a good position for blocking the roads to Vicksburg from the east. Confederate forces led by General John C. Pemberton, lost a total of 3,851 killed, wounded and missing. The Union forces led by Generals' James B. McPherson and John McClernand, lost a total of 2,441 killed, wounded and missing.
