41ST ALABAMA INFANTRY SOLDIER COVER (Image1)

Postally used Confederate soldier's envelope addressed in ink. From, Wm. R. Hughes, Co. A, 41st Ala. Regt. [To], Mrs. Sarah A. Hughes, Northport Post Office, Tuscaloosa County, Alabama. [Due] 10 stamped in red. Part of the back flap is missing where the envelope was opened. Soiling and wear.

The 41st Alabama Infantry fought valiantly at Murfreesboro, served in the Vicksburg campaign, and immortalized itself at Chickamauga, where they had 147 men killed and wounded. Moving to Virginia, they saw action at Drewry's Bluff, Dutch Gap, Petersburg, Hatcher's Run, and the Appomattox campaign.
