Postally used Confederate envelope addressed in ink to Mrs. Hettie S. Wilkinson, Lexington, Virginia, with 10 cents, Jeff Davis, Confederate postage stamp, tied on with partial Petersburg C.D.S. There are erasure spots visible on the obverse of the cover. Complete with back flap. Lexington, Va., was the home of the Virginia Military Institute where Stonewall Jackson taught before the Civil War. It was here in Lexington that the only home Jackson ever owned was located. After the war, Robert E. Lee served as President of Washington College, in Lexington. It was later renamed Washington & Lee University. Both of these legendary Confederate Generals, Lee & Jackson, are buried in Lexington, Va.
