Walter E. Swan, the Commander of Benjamin Stone, Jr., G.A.R. Post 68, who signed this document in print, was an 18 year old clerk from Dorchester, Mass., when he enlisted as a private on August 4, 1862, and was mustered into Co. A, 13th Massachusetts Infantry. He was severely wounded in action on August 30, 1862, at the 2nd Battle of Bull Run, and was discharged as a result of his wounds on November 24, 1862. |
