Atlanta, Ga., June 2, 1862. Vignette of railroad train at center. Red overprint. Ink signatures of the treasurer and representative of the superintendent. Perforated cancellation which is typical. Very fine plus.

The Western & Atlantic Railroad was the line the famous "General" ran on. The "General" was the Confederate train which was captured deep in Southern territory, on 4/12/62, by a daring group of 22 Yankee raiders, ["Andrews Raiders"] at Big Shanty, Ga.
