I claim him as my father, my name being Geo. McKenize Axe, born June 7th, 1859, at Phillipsburg, N.J. I had also a brother who was named William McClinen Axe. Titus McKinize Axe married one Mary Shepperd at Easton, Pa. on the 29th day...

Discusses the action on July 2, 1863, near Devil's Den, making his point that it was the pivotal point in the battle of Gettysburg. Signed in print by H.M. Howell. Excellent condition. From the personal estate of Henry M. Howell. He enlisted in Co. E, 124th New York Infantry, "The Orange Blossoms," on Aug. 9, 1862. 7 1/8 x 1 1/2. White silk ribbon with black imprint. No pin. This ribbon came with a group of G.A.R. badges from the 1886 National Encampment held at San Francisco, Ca., and was no doubt from the Fresno contingency. Very nice condition.
