4 1/4 x 4 1/4, wet plate, albumen photograph, mounted to 5 1/4 x 5 1/4, thick black card mount. View of numerous Union soldiers on the breastworks at Petersburg. Photographic label on the reverse reads as follows: Interior of the Union Fort Sedgwick, called by the Rebel soldiers, "Fort Hell," showing Union soldiers on the breastworks. This view was taken the morning after the storming of Petersburg, Va., April 2d, 1865. Copied by S.B. Fluke, Photographer, Woodbury, Pa. Excellent condition.
